AAA Auto Club Insurance
AAA is a solid company that has built goodwill and loyal members through towing services, travel discounts, vehicle financing, travel maps, books, etc. Their auto insurance side offers a professionals group discount if you are an engineer, scientist, educator, California medical association member, or state bar of California member. The Auto Club also offers homeowners, condo, renters, watercraft and personal umbrella coverage.
Once on the AAA website, you see a big red button that says "Get A Quote." You would conclude you could get a rate online, but it does not say "Get a quote right now." The interface would not allow us to enter a 2006 vehicle, so we added a 2005 year for our 2006 car. After adding drivers and cars (4 screens), we go this message: "Auto Insurance Rate Quotation Request Completed" and "Your request for quotation has been forwarded to an insurance agent at your local Auto Club Office." We were also given a confirmation number and date we submitted our info on. But no rates!
Final thoughts: The Auto Club still has loyalty to their captive career agents, however, that is in conflict with giving the online auto insurance shopper online quotes. We event hopefully the Auto Club website will come into the internet age. If you don't want to wait until they offer online quoting, we recommend ComparisonMarket.
